Melbourne Health & Care Services (MHCS) is seeking experienced and compassionate female Disability Support Workers to join our team in Werribee.
Available shifts:
Primarily inactive overnight support, 10:00pm–6:00am, Monday to Sunday, with occasional day shifts available from 9:00am–3:00pm.
We are particularly interested in applicants with experience supporting people with complex mental health needs, behaviours of concern, trauma histories and psychosocial disabilities.
Applicants must be comfortable supporting a participant who smokes and working in an environment where smoking occurs.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are strongly encouraged to apply. Solid cultural awareness and experience providing culturally responsive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are highly valued.
Additional opportunities to pick up more hours may also be available.
About the Role:
As a Disability Support Worker with MHCS, you will provide person-centred support to participants within their home and community. You will assist participants to build independence, engage in the community, achieve personal goals, and maintain their daily living skills while providing qualified and compassionate support.
This role may involve:
Personal care support
Community access and transportation
Social support and engagement
Emotional support and de-escalation
Assisting with daily living tasks
Completing progress notes and incident reporting
Supporting participants with complex behaviours and verbal aggression
Essential Skills & Experience:
Previous disability support experience
Experience supporting participants with mental health and complex behaviours
Confidence managing verbal escalations in a calm and professional manner
Solid communication and documentation skills
Reliable, compassionate, and professional approach
Current driver’s licence
Reliable vehicle preferred
