Expression of Interest: Software Engineer (Python & AWS) | Melbourne | Hybrid | $100k–$120k + Super

We’re seeking expressions of interest from experienced Software Engineers with robust Python development skills, hands‑on AWS experience, and a background in financial services or fintech, for an upcoming opportunity – recruitment commencing in December 2026.

You’ll play a key role in developing and maintaining secure, scalable backend systems, APIs and cloud‑based solutions that support financial products and services.

This is a great prospect for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with modern cloud technologies and building reliable, high‑quality software.

What you’ll be doing:
Developing and maintaining scalable backend applications and microservices using Python (FastAPI, Django or Flask)
Building, deploying and supporting secure cloud infrastructure within AWS
Developing and integrating RESTful APIs, banking systems, payment gateways and financial data providers
Building and maintaining efficient data pipelines for financial reporting and transaction processing
Implementing security, compliance and software engineering best practices
Collaborating with Product, Engineering, QA and Security teams to deliver high-quality solutions





What we’re looking for:
3+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend engineering
Solid Python development skills, including experience with asynchronous programming
Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services, such as Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB and IAM
Professional experience working within financial services, fintech, banking or investment management
Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with relational and non‑relational databases
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Git and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)

Nice to have:
Experience with event‑driven architectures (AWS SQS, SNS or Kafka)
Exposure to financial market data, trading systems, ledger systems or risk management platforms
Knowledge of financial industry security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI‑DSS or GDPR)

Location: Melbourne, VIC

Hybrid: 3 days per week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 + Super

Employment: Full time, permanent
