About the role:
MCA Engineering is looking for an experienced Cost Control Officer to join our friendly Finance team in Thornton. This is a permanent full-time position, offering long-term stability and career development within a growing business.
Working closely with our Finance and Project teams, you will track project costs, maintain accurate financial records and provide reporting to help keep projects within budget.
Your responsibilities
Tracking and reporting project costs against budgets, including labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors
Maintaining accurate job costing records in SimPRO
Reviewing cost allocations and investigating discrepancies
Monitoring purchase orders,
supplier invoices and committed costs
Identifying cost variations and potential budget overruns
Supporting project managers with cost reports, forecasts and financial information
Assisting with project billing, month-end reporting and project close-out reconciliations
Supporting the Finance team with general administration as required
You’ll be successful if you have:
Experience in cost control, job costing, project finance or a similar role
A sound understanding of project budgets, cost tracking and financial reporting
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Experience with SimPRO is highly regarded
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Robust organisational and communication skills
The ability to work closely with project managers and investigate cost discrepancies
Experience in mining, construction or engineering will be highly regarded.
