Senior Software Engineer – Java / APIs / FHIR
Location: Brisbane or Canberra
Contract: 12 months with possible extensions
Mandatory: Australian Citizenship and able to obtain and maintain a Baseline clearance.
An exciting chance is available for an experiencedSoftware Engineerto contribute to a complex Government environment delivering secure, scalable API services that integrate with a broad range of internal and external systems.
You will work within a highly regulated technology environment supporting a sophisticated API Gateway and associated security, integration, platform, data, monitoring and DevSecOps capabilities.
This role will suit an experienced consulting engineer who is comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle and has strong experience withJava, REST APIs and contemporary development practices.
The Role
What You'll Be Doing
Designing and developing secureRESTful APIs using Java
Building healthcare APIs aligned withHL7 FHIR
Supporting integration across complex clinical and administrative systems
Implementing API authentication and authorisation usingOAuth 2.0
Developing automated and end-to-end API testing
Working withcontainerised applications, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps/GitOps practices
Supporting logging, monitoring, privacy and auditability requirements
Collaborating on integration, data mapping and transformation




Supporting production-ready solutions throughout the application lifecycle
Mandatory Skills & Experience
We are looking for demonstrated commercial experience across:
Java
REST API development
HL7 FHIR
Healthcare applications or healthcare technology environments
API and application testing, includingREST, performance and unit testing
OAuth
Containerisationand an understanding of end-to-end container delivery
CI/CD pipelines
Privacy, auditing and logging
DevOps / GitOpspractices
End-to-end testing
Eligibility & Security Requirements
Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
Candidates must be able toobtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required.
Candidates must be able toobtain and maintain a National Police Check.
