About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Brake Press Operator / Setter capable of independently programming, setting up and operating CNC brake presses to manufacture precision sheet metal components.
The successful applicant must have strong knowledge of sheet metal forming, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to produce high-quality components to engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Program, set up and operate CNC brake press machines
Select and install appropriate tooling, set offsets, backstops and bending parameters
Read and interpret engineering drawings, bend tables and work instructions
Determine bending sequences and compensate for material spring-back
Form a wide range of materials, including mild steel, high-strength steel, aluminium, Bisalloy and stainless steel
Produce complex profiles and components to tight dimensional and angular tolerances
Perform first-off inspections and ongoing quality checks using precision measuring instruments
Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot bending and production issues
Maintain accurate production and inspection records
Follow company quality systems, work instructions and applicable defence-sector requirements
Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 2 years' experience in CNC brake press setting and operation
Proven ability to independently program, set up and operate CNC brake presses
Knowledge of Cybelec CNC controllers advantageous
Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications
Experience producing complex bends and profiles to tight tolerances
Sound understanding of material properties, bend allowances and spring-back
Experience forming high-strength steels and Bisalloy highly regarded
Competence using precision measuring and inspection equipment
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
