This architectural practice creates human-centred projects across all sectors, specialising in medium- to extra-large-footprint projects. Its work is shaped by a belief that thoughtful design can connect people with one another and the world around them.
What the job entails
The Computational Designer will champion computational design, combining hands-on project work with technical leadership and capability development. You will help teams apply computational methods, automation and AI-enabled processes to improve design exploration, analysis and delivery, and identify where these approaches can make a practical difference to project outcomes.
Working closely with project teams, BIM leadership, specialist disciplines and the Design Technology team, you will develop and improve workflows, tools, standards and guidance. You will mentor computational design specialists and project teams, coordinate regional support, and contribute to training and knowledge-sharing.
The role also involves evaluating emerging technologies and leading relevant research and innovation initiatives, including the considered use of generative AI and language models to address project needs. It is a hands-on leadership opportunity based in Melbourne.
You'll have:
A relevant degree and significant computational design experience in skilled practice.
Advanced proficiency in Rhino and Grasshopper
Experience creating custom tools, automated workflows and digital products, and applying them to project work.
Familiarity with generative AI in design, alongside experience mentoring others and influencing stakeholders.
Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, Revit, APIs and cloud workflows are required
