About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Consultant Psychiatrist – Forensics
to join a specialist forensic mental health team. This role involves delivering high-quality psychiatric care to individuals involved with the criminal justice system, including those requiring assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation in secure inpatient and community settings.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting comprehensive forensic psychiatric assessments and risk evaluations
Developing and implementing treatment plans for patients in secure units and community programs
Providing expert advice to courts, correctional facilities, and legal stakeholders
Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, evidence-based care
Supervising junior medical staff and contributing to education and training
Supporting service development, clinical governance, and culturally safe practices
About You
FRANZCP or equivalent,
with experience or advanced training in forensic psychiatry
AHPRA specialist registration in psychiatry
Strong leadership and communication skills
Commitment to recovery-oriented care and cultural safety
