Super (negotiable on experience)We're looking for a practical and proactive Building Insurance Assessor to join one of client's growing insurance repairs team in St Kilda.This is a great opportunity for someone with a construction, building or trade background who enjoys site-based work and wants to develop their skills in building assessment, reporting and estimating.
Insurance experience is desirable but not essential, with structured training and ongoing mentoring provided.You'll work alongside internal and subcontracted assessors and a dedicated claims team, reporting to the Building and Insurance Manager.Work standard hours of 7:30am–4:00pm, balancing site visits with office-based assessment workWhat you'll be doingAttend properties across Victoria to inspect building damage and assess required repairsTake accurate measurements, photographs and site notesIdentify damage, likely causes and any safety concernsPrepare clear assessment reports, repair scopes and cost estimatesLiaise with property owners, occupants, clients and internal teamsKeep assessment records, documents and communications up to dateWork across insurance portals, project management systems and digital toolsPlan site visits and manage your workload to meet agreed deadlinesProvide clear handovers to estimating, operations and delivery teamsWork standard hours of 7:30am–4:00pm,



balancing site visits with office-based assessment workWhat you'll bringPractical knowledge of building methods, materials and common defects through construction, trade, estimating or related experienceStrong attention to detail and the ability to produce transparent, accurate reportsGood communication, organisation and time-management skillsConfidence dealing with property owners and occupantsConfidence using computers, Google Workspace, spreadsheets and digital systemsA willingness to learn new technology, insurance portals and project management softwareA current driver's licence and ability to travel to assigned sitesA relevant trade, building or construction qualification, or experience in insurance repairs, property assessment or construction estimating, would be advantageous.Why join?
