The Chance
An established international freight forwarding business is looking to strengthen its Melbourne sales presence with the appointment of an experienced Business Development Manager.
We're seeking someone who knows the Melbourne freight forwarding market, has developed strong customer relationships and can identify and convert new commercial opportunities.
This is a genuine new business development position, suited to someone who enjoys getting out in front of customers, building relationships and growing a profitable portfolio.
The Role
You'll be responsible for expanding the company's customer base across Melbourne and Victoria, targeting importers, exporters and businesses requiring international freight forwarding solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Proactively identifying and securing new customers across the Victorian market.
- Developing business across international air freight and sea freight services.
- Building relationships with key decision-makers across importing and exporting businesses.
- Using your existing network to generate opportunities while developing new customer relationships.
- Preparing and negotiating commercial proposals in collaboration with internal teams.
- Managing opportunities from initial introduction through to successful customer onboarding.
- Maintaining a strong pipeline and delivering against agreed business development objectives.
About You
To be successful, you'll ideally bring:
- Demonstrated success in freight forwarding business development or international logistics sales.
- Established relationships within Melbourne's importing and exporting market.
- Strong knowledge of international air and sea freight.
- Proven ability to win new customers and develop sustainable revenue streams.
- Commercial awareness, strong negotiation skills and a proactive approach.
- The confidence to operate autonomously while working closely with an established operations team.
