With a broad product range and a mix of local and international supply, purchasing plays an important role in keeping products available, competitively priced and moving efficiently through the business.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Purchasing Officer to join our team. This is a broad, hands-on role covering day-to-day purchasing, stock replenishment, supplier management, pricing analysis and imported products.

You’ll work closely with our Procurement Lead and purchasing team to ensure we have the right stock available at the right time and at the right cost.

We’re looking for someone with a few years of purchasing experience who is comfortable analysing information, working with suppliers and making practical, commercially sensible buying decisions.

Key responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day purchasing across local and international suppliers

- Monitor stock levels, sales demand, supplier availability and replenishment requirements

- Set and review stock replenishment levels

- Prepare and manage forward orders, adjusting timing and quantities as requirements change

- Determine appropriate order quantities considering demand, stock cover, supplier price breaks, pallet quantities and freight efficiencies

- Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, quantities, lead times and purchasing arrangements

- Monitor outstanding purchase orders and proactively follow up availability,



deliveries and supply issues

- Analyse supplier and competitor pricing and identify opportunities to improve buying costs and margins

- Investigate and resolve supplier, stock, delivery and order-related issues

- Support container planning, imported stock purchasing and shipment coordination

- Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and product information within company systems

About you

You’ll ideally have:

- Several years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain

- Strong analytical and numerical skills

- Good commercial judgement and problem-solving ability

- Excellent attention to detail

- Experience with stock replenishment and purchasing decisions

- Confidence negotiating and communicating with suppliers

- Experience using ERP or inventory management systems. We use MYOB Advanced

- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with sales, stock and purchasing data

- The ability to manage multiple priorities and follow issues through to completion

Experience with imported products, international suppliers, freight or container purchasing would be highly regarded.
