Join an established international bank as a Financial Accountant in its Sydney finance team. Ideal for a technically strong accountant with FS experience, this role offers broad exposure to financial accounting, month-end reporting, regulatory compliance, tax and audit. You'll support key finance activities, with a particular focus on expense management and reporting, while developing your expertise in financial control within a global banking environment and global stakeholders

The Role

Reporting into the finance function, you will be responsible for supporting the daily financial operations of the Australian business, ensuring accuracy across financial records, reporting and compliance obligations.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Managing day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.

- Completing daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations.

- Supporting month-end and quarter-end financial reporting processes.

- Managing employee expenses, expense claims and expense management reporting.

- Monitoring expense transactions and ensuring compliance with internal policies.

- Assisting with APRA regulatory reporting and statutory reporting obligations.

- Preparing tax reporting requirements, including PAYG, BAS and FBT.

- Assisting with the preparation of annual financial statements.

- Supporting external audit processes and preparing relevant audit documentation.

- Maintaining accurate general ledger records and financial controls.

- Contributing to process improvements across the finance function.

About You





To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally demonstrate:

- A minimum of 3+ years' experience in a financial accounting position.

- Previous experience within a banking, financial services or similarly regulated financial institution.

- CA or CPA qualification.

- Strong technical accounting skills across reconciliations, transactional finance and financial reporting.

- Previous experience with expense management systems, employee expense claims and expense reporting. This is a particularly important requirement.

- Exposure to regulatory reporting, ideally APRA, and statutory compliance.

- Experience supporting external audits and financial statement preparation.

- Knowledge of Australian tax obligations, including PAYG, BAS and FBT.

- Experience using Xero or MYOB will be highly regarded.

- Strong attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
