Trade Settlements Officer – Market Operations
6-month contract | Sydney CBD | Hybrid (3 days onsite) | Start early November

Our client, a leading global financial services organisation, is looking for two Trade Settlements Officers to join their Market Operations team in Sydney. The team settles trades for boutique fund managers and life and investment businesses, making sure every trade is confirmed, instructed to the custodian and settled on time.

This is a hands-on role in a small team within a wider operations function of around 90 people. It suits someone who knows the trade lifecycle well and is ready to start quickly.

The role
- Match, confirm and settle trades across equities, fixed income, repos, NCDs, swaps, swaptions and cash products
- Confirm and settle future cash flows across these products
- Investigate and resolve failed trades and cash breaks
- Act as a key contact for custodians, dealers, brokers and front office on booking and settlement issues
- Set up new trading counterparties in the operations system




- Manage the team inbox and respond to internal and external queries on time
- Identify and implement process improvements that reduce risk and increase efficiency
- Contribute to team projects and cross-training

About you
- At least 2 years' experience in trade settlements, investment operations or market operations within financial markets
- Strong understanding of the settlement lifecycle across multiple asset classes
- Valuable knowledge of Australian financial markets and the roles of custodians, brokers and counterparties
- Experience resolving trade fails and cash breaks under tight deadlines
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and keep track of every request
- Exposure to SWIFT, CTM, Austraclear, CHESS or similar systems is highly regarded

Please note: this role requires securities and derivatives trade settlement experience. Mortgage, lending or retail payment settlements backgrounds will not be suitable.
