THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer / Fire Protection Designer to work closely with Project Managers and the wider Projects team to deliver high-quality fire protection solutions across a range of construction projects.

This is a hands-on design position where you will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, producing compliant fire protection designs, undertaking hydraulic calculations, preparing fabrication drawings and supporting projects through construction and commissioning.
You will work closely with Project Managers, Design Management, supervisors and site teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant and delivered in accordance with project schedules, budgets, Australian Standards and client requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

- Produce fire protection design solutions in accordance with Australian Standards using CAD and Revit.
- Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure the suitability and compliance of designs.
- Produce fabrication sheets, drawings and associated procurement information.
- Review designs with Design Management and site supervisors to ensure compliance and constructability.
- Interpret building plans, project specifications, regulations and relevant codes of practice.
- Review tender allowances and project specifications against the contracted Scope of Works.




- Ensure appropriate design documentation is prepared to support commissioning of fire protection systems.
- Attend design and project meetings as required.
- Conduct site visits to review project progress and resolve design or construction issues.
- Review engineering deliverables and coordinate appropriate corrective actions where required.
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure projects meet schedule, quality and commercial objectives.
- Support and mentor Project Engineers, cadets and apprentices where required.
- Maintain compliance with applicable codes, QA/QC requirements, performance standards and project specifications.

ABOUT YOU

You will be an experienced Designer or Design Engineer with a strong understanding of construction and the ability to translate project requirements into practical, compliant design solutions.
Fire protection industry experience will be highly regarded, particularly candidates with experience across fire system design, hydraulic calculations and construction delivery.

You will bring:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction management or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent industry experience.
- Experience producing fire protection design solutions.
- Robust AutoCAD skills.
- Experience with Revit.
- Experience undertaking hydraulic calculations.




- Strong understanding of Australian Standards, construction regulations, codes and industry requirements.
- Ability to interpret architectural/building plans, specifications and Scope of Works documentation.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and project delivery.
- Experience working across multidisciplinary construction projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, site teams, subcontractors and clients.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team.
- Current Engineer licence
