The role

Our Build QLD team is looking for a Design Coordinator to manage the flow of design information across our structures, shelters, shade, amenities and associated civil and landscape works. You’ll make sure what’s drawn is accurate, compliant and can actually be built safely and to budget. Reporting to the Business Manager, Build QLD, you’ll be based at our Yatala office with regular time on site.

What you’ll do

- Coordinate design across all project stages, in line with scope, programme and budget
- Manage drawing submissions and client approvals, revising drawings in CAD
- Work through DA conditions and make sure every approved change is reflected
- Coordinate structural design with RPEQ engineers from brief to certified drawings
- Review footing, structural and steel shop drawings for buildability and cost




- Track Form 15 and Form 16 certification and building approvals with the private certifier
- Get on site to check set out, footings and structural elements, and resolve issues with the site team
- Run drawing registers and design RFIs, and support tenders and ECI with design input
- Lead value engineering without compromising quality or compliance
- Prepare as built documentation at handover

What you’ll bring

- Hands on structural experience coordinating or drafting structural, footing and steel drawings
- Real site experience, including set out checks, inspections and fixing design issues on the ground
- Strong AutoCAD skills and experience producing construction details and drawing packages
- Working knowledge of the NCC, Australian Standards and Queensland approval processes
- Experience managing drawing registers, RFIs and consultant deliverables
- Current White Card and driver’s licence

Highly regarded

- Qualification in structural or civil drafting, building design, construction management or engineering
- Revit, Tekla or Advance Steel, or experience reviewing steel shop drawings
- Design and construct background with commercial, council or education clients
- Experience with shade structures, shelters, amenities or landscape integrated structures
- A trade or site supervision background
