Our Business Support & Facilities team are currently looking for a Cleaning Assistant to join the team at our Sydney – Hills location. This role will be responsible for ensuring that the campus facilities are presented in a well-maintained manner for everyday use. This involves the outworking of practical cleaning and maintenance tasks, as well as the building and leading teams of volunteers to achieve these outcomes.

Other aspects of this role include:

BUILDING LOCKDOWN & SECURITY

- Ensure campus buildings are locked down at appropriate times by checking that all doors and windows are securely closed.
- Ensure no unauthorized personnel remain in the building after operating hours.
- Follow security protocols for locking up and ensuring premises are safe overnight.
- Assist with building access for After Hours Events as directed by Venue Oversight.

MAINTENANCE

- Assist in general maintenance tasks to keep campus facilities in good working condition.
- Use power tools, BMS systems, and other equipment to perform minor repairs or upgrades.
- Identify and resolve maintenance issues independently or escalate to Venue Oversight when necessary.




- Assist with event setups and pack-downs, including handling equipment as required.

HEALTH & SAFETY COMPLIANCE

- Follow all WH&S; rules and requirements when performing maintenance, cleaning, or other tasks.
- Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or other safety concerns to the Facilities Manager immediately.
- Ensure that all equipment is used safely and that safety protocols are followed during all tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards to ensure a secure and healthy setting for staff and visitors.

Ideally, the successful candidate will bring:

- No formal qualifications required but minimum of Year 12 Higher School Certificate preferred.
- Prior experience in maintenance, cleaning, or venue security roles preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to do maintenance handiwork as allocated from time to time for minor tasks.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and using tools.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively.
- Ability to follow directions and handle tasks that require problem-solving.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance tools, BMS systems, power tools, and cleaning equipment.
- Familiarity with WH&S; requirements and the ability to comply with safety protocols.
