Walcha Council is seeking multiple operators and people who have never worked in roads before, to fill multiple positions.
About the Role
As a Labour / Operator at Walcha Council, you can expect the work to be wide-ranging and typically involving working on our highways, local & urban road network and all the tasks that involves. Some of these tasks will include traffic control, verge and drain work, as well as operating our plant.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out laboring duties as directed
- Operate hand tools and small plant items on Council worksites
- Hold and use a current drivers licence to drive light vehicles
- Operate plant and equipment safely, legally, efficiently and competently
- Read, understand and apply traffic control plans
What You’ll Bring
- WHS General Induction Card
- Current and valid Class C drivers licence
- Demonstrated experience working well with others
- Willingness to participate in an On-Call Roster if required
- Experience in Civil Construction preferred, but not essential
What We Offer
This is a Permanent Full-Time position (38 hours per week) starting at $1,118.30 (gross) + superannuation per week based on Band 1 Level 3, Grade 2 of the Local Government (State) Award 2026. You will enjoy one RDO every fortnight.
