Optimum Consulting is partnering with a well-established mining company to appoint a General Manager for its multi-million tonne per annum open cut coal operation in regional Queensland.

This is a career-defining role for a leader who wants real accountability. You’ll own the site’s safety, production and financial performance, with the backing of a stable owner and a long-life asset.

The role

Reporting to the senior executive team, you will:

- Lead the site leadership team and set the standard for safety and operational discipline
- Drive safe, reliable and cost-effective production against plan
- Own site budgets, cost performance and capital priorities
- Build a high-performance, accountable culture across the workforce
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, regulators and the local community

About you

- Proven senior leadership in open cut coal, ideally as General Manager, Site Senior Executive or Mine Manager.



Strong operations leaders ready to step up will also be considered
- A visible, uncompromising commitment to safety and health
- Explicit record of improving production, productivity and cost
- Relevant Queensland coal statutory qualifications
- The presence to lead people, influence stakeholders and make sound decisions under pressure
