Leading Hand

Act as the primary onsite leader responsible for coordinating teams, liaising with clients and trades, managing workflow, and ensuring project sections are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver carpentry works safely, efficiently, and to Ideal Group’s quality standards

• Maintain punctuality, professional conduct, and a positive attitude

• Follow all lawful and reasonable directions from supervisors

• Uphold Ideal Group’s safety systems, policies, and workplace standards

• Protect company reputation through professional behaviour onsite and offsite

• Maintain required tools, PPE, and equipment

• Contribute to a respectful, productive team culture

• Support defect management and quality assurance processes

• Communicate clearly with supervisors, team members, and clients

• Represent Ideal Group Australia professionally at all times

Role Specific Responsibilities:

Technical & Workmanship

• Lead delivery of full sections of carpentry work

• Maintain high precision, efficiency, and pace across entire workdays

• Identify issues early and resolve them before escalation

• Maintain a fully equipped carpentry setup

Leadership & Coordination





• Act as primary point of contact for site matters

• Lead teams of 5–6 carpenters and apprentices

• Liaise with client site management and other trades

• Coordinate daily workflow, task allocation, and productivity

• Support operational teams with reporting and communication

Project Delivery

• Ensure tasks meet deadlines and quality standards

• Manage minor onsite issues and variations

• Support defect management and quality assurance

• Prepare for work outside of hours when required (research, planning, setup)

Performance Measurement

• Must achieve EE across Quality & Precision, Efficiency & Pace, and Communication

• Progression aligned with Carpenter Remuneration Framework

Work Setting & Expectations:

• Work performed across commercial, education, multi residential, industrial, and residential projects

• Usual hours: 40 hours per week (6:30am–3:30pm Mon–Thu, 6:30am–12:30pm Fri)

• Must comply with all safety, PPE, and site requirements

• Must maintain a clean, organised work area

• Must uphold Ideal Group’s values and professional standards
