Porter Constructions (Vic) Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Excavator Operators and Truck Drivers to join our growing team based in Geelong, VIC. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on diverse construction projects across the region. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of excavation equipment and the transportation of materials and equipment to various job sites. This role is critical to maintaining project timelines and ensuring the successful delivery of our construction operations.
Key responsibilities
- Operate excavators and related plant machinery safely and efficiently in accordance with all relevant legislation and safety standards
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on all assigned equipment
- Transport materials, equipment and personnel to and from construction sites using appropriate vehicles
- Maintain accurate records of equipment operation, fuel consumption and maintenance requirements
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors and other team members to ensure coordinated project activities
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols and contribute to a positive safety culture on site
- Assist with site preparation, material handling and other construction-related duties as required
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are kept clean, well-maintained and ready for deployment
What we're looking for
- Current and valid Heavy Rigid (HR or HC) driver's licence as applicable to the role
- Current Excavator ticket or heavy plant operator certification
- Proven experience operating excavators,
tip trucks or similar construction machinery in a commercial environment
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety practices and compliance with safety regulations
- Robust communication and teamwork skills with the ability to take direction from supervisors
- Physical fitness and ability to perform physically demanding work in varied weather conditions
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic
- Knowledge of construction site practices and familiarity with working in busy operational environments
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one is highly desirable
