Brisbane
For nearly 140 years, RSPCA Queensland has been a leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to improving the lives of animals - whether domestic, farmed, or native. We care for over 42,000 animals annually, relying on the generosity of animal lovers like you to fund 91% of our life-changing services.
Our Purpose: We exist for animals to live better lives.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Project Coordinator to help deliver our new Redlands Wildlife Hospital, bringing together the people, plans and decisions needed to make it happen.
Representing RSPCA Queensland throughout the project, you’ll work closely with our appointed Principal Consultant and Project Manager, government stakeholders and internal teams to keep delivery on track. You’ll help ensure the hospital is delivered safely, within budget and on schedule, with the needs of our wildlife teams reflected along the way.
This is a varied role that combines practical project coordination with relationship management and oversight. You’ll work alongside our Wildlife Transformation Manager to ensure the facility supports how our teams will operate and the long-term vision for wildlife services.
If you enjoy bringing structure to complex projects, working with different people and seeing plans become something tangible, this could be a great fit.
Please note: This role is a fixed-term (2 years), part-time opportunity, working 3 days per week.
What We’re Looking For
You’re someone who naturally brings order to moving parts. You like having a clear plan, knowing who’s doing what and following through to make sure things happen. When priorities shift or challenges come up, you stay calm, work through the options and help find a way forward.
You’re approachable and confident working with different people, from technical specialists and contractors to government representatives and colleagues. You listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and can bring people together when their priorities don’t quite align. You’re also comfortable having honest conversations and holding people accountable while maintaining positive working relationships.
You take ownership and use your initiative, with the judgement to know what you can resolve and when to bring others in. You can get across the detail, explain what matters clearly and keep the bigger picture in view.
Above all, you take pride in your work and share our passion for animal welfare. You’re motivated by the opportunity to put your skills towards something meaningful and help deliver a hospital that will support Queensland’s wildlife for years to come.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate project activities across planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Work closely with the Principal Consultant and Project Manager to keep scope, budget and timelines on track.
- Coordinate design reviews and stakeholder input so operational needs are reflected in the facility.
- Support procurement, tender evaluation and consultant and contractor appointments.
- Monitor consultant and contractor performance against agreed requirements and deliverables.
- Track project budgets, financial commitments and expenditure, flagging cost pressures early.
- Maintain project schedules, risk registers, action registers and decision logs.
- Prepare clear reports, briefing papers and recommendations for the Project Sponsor, Project Committee, Executive and Board.
- Coordinate government funding reports, track compliance obligations and support grant acquittals.
- Act as the main external contact for project delivery matters, working with government, Redland City Council and project partners.
- Provide updates and milestones to support fundraising, donor engagement and project communications.
- Work with the Wildlife Transformation Manager on equipment planning, operational readiness, commissioning and handover.
- Promote safe project delivery and maintain accurate records for assurance, auditing and reporting.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- A Certificate IV in Project Management Practice, Diploma of Project Management, or higher qualification in project management (essential).
- Demonstrated experience coordinating medium to large capital infrastructure projects.
- Experience representing an organisation’s interests as an Owner’s Representative or in a similar project delivery role.
- A sound understanding of construction project delivery, including commissioning and practical completion.
- Experience managing consultants and contractors, including procurement, tender evaluation and contract administration.
- Robust financial skills, including budget monitoring, cost control and project reporting.
