About the role

Astro Medical Imaging is looking for an experienced Senior Sonographer to join our team. The role is based at our Hillside clinic, with the option of days at our new Brunswick clinic as it opens.

We’re open to full-time, part-time, or a weekend-only arrangement (Saturdays, Sundays or both). Whether you want a regular weekend list on top of your main job, two or three days a week, or a full-time role, tell us what you’re after and we’ll build it around you.

As Senior Sonographer you’ll deliver diagnostic ultrasound across a general community case mix, and have a real say in how the department runs.

Start date is December 2026, with some flexibility for the right person.

Key responsibilities

- Performing a comprehensive range of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, obstetric, gynaecological, vascular, musculoskeletal and small parts
- Ensuring accurate image acquisition and optimisation in line with established protocols and best practice
- Providing clear, detailed worksheets and preliminary findings to the reporting radiologist, with accurate documentation of every examination
- Working closely with our radiologists and front‑of‑house team to keep lists running smoothly and patients well looked after
- Daily equipment checks and prompt reporting of any faults
- Upholding high standards of patient care, communication, privacy and safety in every interaction
- Contributing to protocols, worksheets and quality assurance, and keeping up your own professional development

What we’re looking for





- Formal qualification in medical or diagnostic ultrasound from an accredited institution
- ASAR accreditation
- 5 or more years of post‑qualification clinical experience across general, obstetric, MSK and vascular ultrasound
- Consistently high diagnostic competency and image quality
- Robust communication skills with patients, colleagues and medical staff
- Good organisation, able to manage a list efficiently without cutting corners
- Working knowledge of ultrasound safety, infection control and OH&S; requirements
- Comfortable working autonomously and happy to mentor
- Adaptable and practical in a growing clinic
