The Waterline Restaurant is seeking a Kitchen Hand to join our hospitality team on a casual basis. Based in Yeppoon, QLD, this role is essential to maintaining the smooth operation of our kitchen and ensuring our guests receive exceptional dining experiences. You will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, cleanliness, and teamwork are paramount. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to develop valuable experience in the hospitality sector.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning vegetables, meats and other food items
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, including washing dishes, utensils and food preparation surfaces
- Assisting kitchen staff with food preparation and cooking tasks as directed
- Managing food storage and organisation in accordance with food safety standards
- Operating kitchen equipment safely, including dishwashers and food preparation machinery
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages to senior kitchen staff
- Following all food safety, health and hygiene regulations and company procedures
- Supporting the wider kitchen team to meet service times and maintain food quality standards
- Cleaning kitchen, food storage and restaurant service areas and associated facilities

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working in a kitchen environment, preferably in a hospitality setting
- A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- The ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Good teamwork and communication skills,



with a willingness to support colleagues
- Physical fitness, as the role involves standing for extended periods and lifting items
- Reliability and punctuality, particularly important for a casual role
- A positive attitude and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required
- A current Food Handling Certificate or willingness to obtain one

Award and Work Hours

Hospitality Award MA000009 applies. Upto Full Time Hours available, including weekend and public holidays, penalty rates apply as prescribed in the award.
