Lead the team. Drive performance. Make your mark.
Permanent Full-Time | Monday to Friday
Are you an experienced Heavy Diesel professional who knows what it takes to run a successful workshop? Someone who can lead people, drive productivity and deliver results without compromising on safety or quality?
BTP is looking for a solid, hands-on Workshop Supervisor to take ownership of our Mackay workshop operations.
This is an opportunity to put your experience to work, influence operational performance and build a team that takes genuine pride in what they do.
About BTP
For over 35 years, BTP has been a trusted name in Australia's mining, earthmoving and construction industries, delivering quality equipment, parts, component rebuilds and specialist maintenance services.
With operations across WA, QLD and NSW, we combine extensive industry knowledge with practical, cost-effective solutions that keep our customers' equipment moving.
As BTP enters an exciting new chapter, we're focused on strengthening our operations, investing in our people and continuing to deliver the quality and service our customers rely on.
About the Role
Great workshops don't run themselves. They need great leaders.
As our Workshop Supervisor, you'll play a pivotal role in leading the day-to-day operations of our Mackay workshop, ensuring our people, processes and resources work together to deliver outstanding results.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you'll oversee our MRC and CRC service teams, driving safety, operational efficiency, quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
This isn't a position where you'll simply allocate jobs and monitor progress. We're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture,
identify opportunities to improve performance and take the initiative to make things happen.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and inspire your team: Provide clear direction, mentoring and support to our tradespeople, Leading Hands and apprentices, creating a workplace built on accountability, respect and teamwork.
- Drive workshop performance: Plan, prioritise and coordinate daily maintenance, component rebuild and repair activities to deliver work safely, efficiently and within agreed timeframes.
- Champion safety: Lead by example, proactively identify and manage risks, and ensure all work complies with company procedures, customer requirements and critical safety standards.
- Maximise productivity: Monitor labour utilisation, job costs, work in progress and workshop efficiency to achieve operational and commercial objectives.
- Deliver quality outcomes: Maintain high workmanship standards, manage warranty concerns and rework, and ensure our customers receive the service and reliability they expect.
- Develop your people: Coach and mentor team members, conduct performance reviews, address challenges constructively and identify future leaders within the business.
- Build strong relationships: Work collaboratively with customers, suppliers,
OEM representatives and internal stakeholders to resolve challenges and deliver practical solutions.
- Identify opportunities for growth: Contribute to operational planning, process improvements and initiatives that reduce costs, improve efficiencies and support business growth.
You'll have the autonomy to influence workshop performance, the responsibility to maintain high standards and the opportunity to make a real difference to our Mackay operations.
About You
Technically capable. Commercially minded. Respected by your team.
We're looking for someone who brings more than technical experience to the table. You understand the pressures of a busy workshop, know how to balance competing priorities and have the confidence to make decisions, manage difficult conversations and hold people accountable.
Importantly, you know how to get the best out of people without losing their respect.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- A recognised Heavy Diesel Mechanical trade qualification, with a minimum of 5 years' post-trade experience.
- At least 2 years' supervisory experience, ideally within heavy mobile equipment, mining, earthmoving or a heavy equipment dealership environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, component rebuilds, equipment maintenance and workshop processes.
- Demonstrated experience managing workshop productivity, labour utilisation, job costs and operational performance.
- Experience managing warranty-related issues, workmanship quality and rework.
- Proven leadership capability, including performance management, staff development, coaching and resolving workplace challenges.
- Strong planning
