About the role

RMS Group Brisbane Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Catering & Production Head Chef to lead our catering and kitchen operations in for the GROVE ROOFTOP and our corporate catering division THE CATERING CREW.

This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional food service and maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence across our catering operations. As Head Chef, you will oversee all aspects of food production, from menu planning and food preparation to quality control and team management. This role is essential to our commitment to providing outstanding catering services and ensuring consistent, high-quality meal delivery to our clients.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and manage all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking and plating to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Plan, develop and oversee menus that meet client requirements, dietary specifications and seasonal availability
- Manage inventory, food costs and procurement whilst maintaining quality standards and minimising waste
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring consistent performance, professional development and adherence to food safety protocols
- Maintain HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) procedures and food safety certifications
- Monitor portion control, presentation standards and consistency across all catering functions
- Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and ensure catering services exceed expectations
- Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate maintenance schedules to ensure operational efficiency
- Implement and uphold company policies, procedures and health and safety regulations
- Manage food production scheduling and coordinate with service teams for timely delivery

What we’re looking for

- Minimum 5+ years' experience working as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a catering, hospitality or large-scale food production environment




- Strong knowledge of food safety, health and hygiene standards, including HACCP principles
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Culinary qualification or formal training in professional cookery (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, suppliers and team members
- Proficiency in kitchen management systems and food production planning
- Current food safety certification or willingness to obtain it
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including early starts and service times as required
