The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:

- Manufacture, machine, fit, assemble and repair precision metal components using lathes, milling machines and other machine tools to meet engineering specifications and tolerances.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical plans and machining specifications.
- Select suitable materials, tools and cutting equipment for machining and fitting operations.
- Set up, operate and adjust manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders and other machine tools.
- Turn, bore, drill, mill, thread and grind metal components to specified dimensions.
- Measure and inspect machined parts using precision instruments, including micrometers, vernier callipers and gauges.
- Fit, assemble and align mechanical components, shafts, bearings, gears and machine parts.
- Diagnose faults,



dismantle equipment and repair or replace worn and damaged components.
- Carry out maintenance and adjustments on machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Verify component dimensions, clearances, tolerances and surface finishes against technical specifications.
- Modify or re-machine components to meet required operational and assembly standards.
- Maintain machining tools, equipment and machinery in secure working condition.
- Record machining measurements, inspection results, maintenance activities and completed work.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised workshop.
- Ensure all work meets engineering drawings, quality requirements and specified tolerances.
