SIS Australia is looking for an experienced Estimator to join our Sales & Estimating team in Sunshine West. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you'll review and price project tenders accurately. Your work will help us win new business and grow our client base.
You'll own the whole tender process. You'll qualify and prioritise enquiries, prepare detailed quotations, follow up and negotiate, and then hand accepted projects over to the operations team.
What you'll be doing
- Qualifying, planning and prioritising project enquiries, and choosing which tenders to pursue with the General Manager and Commercial Manager
- Finding new tender opportunities through platforms such as Estimate One
- Talking with clients to understand project scope, budgets and timelines, and getting drawings from them
- Setting up job files in iQuote and briefing our drafting team on what each project needs
- Preparing detailed pricing and submitting tenders on time and to the client's guidelines
- Following up on submitted tenders, negotiating with clients and running a transparent sales cycle
- Keeping project records accurate, including drawings, contracts, correspondence and documentation
- After a project is accepted: reviewing the scope and contract price,
coordinating purchase order and contract checks, and handing over to the Project Coordinator
- Visiting sites when needed to confirm scope and spot risks
About you
- Previous estimating experience. Scaffolding industry experience is highly regarded.
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with experience building budgets and costings
- Very accurate, with good attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Confident communicator and negotiator who builds good relationships with clients
- Calm under pressure and able to meet tight tender deadlines
- Strong MS Office skills, including at least intermediate Excel
- A team player who adds to a positive workplace culture
- Degree in Engineering, Drafting or a related field
- Certificate IV in Building and Construction
- Experience with estimating software (iQuote is a bonus)
