Job Description

Platre&Deco; The role involves planning and constructing landscapes for heritage and period properties across the Sydney metropolitan area. You will work closely with our partner landscape architects to turn their designs into finished gardens that respect the character of each property, from planning and site preparation through to hard and soft landscaping and ongoing maintenance of completed projects.

Task & responsibilities

- Liaise with landscape architects to review designs, clarify specifications and resolve buildability issues before and during construction.
- Translate designs into construction requirements, including set out plans, levels, material quantities and plant schedules.
- Plan and schedule landscape works, coordinating trades, machinery hire and material deliveries.
- Select materials and plant stock to suit the design intent, the heritage character of the property and site conditions, and propose substitutions where needed.
- Prepare sites by clearing, excavating, grading and compacting ground, and preparing garden beds.
- Build retaining walls, paths, paving, steps, decking, pergolas, fences and other garden structures, using traditional materials such as sandstone, brick and natural stone where required.
- Install drainage and irrigation systems, including testing and adjusting them.
- Plant trees, shrubs,



hedges and ground covers, and lay instant turf or sow lawns.
- Maintain completed gardens and lawns, including pruning, feeding and pest and weed control.
- Operate landscaping machinery such as mini excavators, compact loaders and plate compactors.
- Maintain a clean, safe and WHS compliant work site, and guide labourers and junior staff.

Qualification & experience

- Qualification in landscaping or horticulture at Certificate IV level or higher, or an equivalent overseas qualification
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience as a landscaper
- Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and specifications
- Practical ability to operate landscaping machinery safely
- Valid White Card
- Current driver's licence
