Our client is an established legal practice with an experienced, supportive team and a strong commitment to providing quality legal services. They are looking for a personable, motivated and dedicated Family Lawyer who is passionate about making a difference in people’s lives while continuing to develop their legal expertise.

While previous family law experience is highly regarded, our client is equally interested in finding someone who has made a conscious decision to pursue this area of law and is genuinely committed to developing their career within it.

About the Role

Working within an established legal team, you will manage a consistent and manageable portfolio of family law matters, providing professional advice and guidance while maintaining strong relationships with clients and other legal professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

- Independently manage a portfolio of family law matters from commencement through to resolution.
- Provide professional, empathetic and practical advice to clients.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, barristers and colleagues.
- Manage client files, billing, cost agreements and associated administrative requirements.
- Effectively prioritise your workload and adapt to changing demands.
- Take ownership of your matters while seeking guidance and support when required.

The role is predominantly focused on family law. Experience in criminal law would be advantageous but is not essential.

About You

We’re looking for someone who genuinely wants to build their career in family law, not simply someone looking for their next legal position. Ideally, you will bring 2-5 years of relevant experience.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

- A genuine passion for family law and a desire to continue developing your expertise.
- Previous family law experience or a clear commitment to specialising in this area.
- A personable, approachable and professional manner, with strong client relationship skills.
- The confidence and ability to work autonomously and manage your own workload.
- Strong organisational skills, reliability and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to manage changing workloads and competing priorities.
- A collaborative attitude and willingness to contribute positively to the team.

Experience with billing, cost agreements and general legal practice administration will be highly regarded.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys helping people and is seeking a practice where they can establish themselves for the long term.
