If you can take a debt recovery file from instruction to enforcement, this role will let you do exactly that.
A specialist Brisbane CBD practice is adding an experienced paralegal to its debt recovery, commercial litigation and insolvency team. You would carry your own portfolio, work directly with the lawyers and the Principal, and decide what happens next on each file.
This is not a support role with a paralegal title. It is a paralegal career, respected as one.
The work
- Debt recovery claims from first instruction through to enforcement
- Bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings, statutory demands and related applications
- Caveats, charging clauses and equitable mortgage matters
- Pre- and post-appointment insolvency matters
- Court documents, filing, service and critical dates
- Direct contact with corporate clients, solicitors and the courts
The clients are mostly corporate and repeat, so you build relationships and see matters through, rather than churning volume.

You’ll bring
- Solid debt recovery, commercial litigation or insolvency experience, in a law firm or a collections or insolvency workplace
- Working knowledge of Queensland and Federal Court processes, filing and deadlines
- The ability to run multiple matters independently and keep them moving
- Confidence with clients and external parties
- Organised; attention to detail; and a practical head
This role is built for a paralegal who wants to grow at paralegal level. It is not a pathway to admission, so it won’t suit law students or recent graduates looking for a graduate role.
