Woods & Co Recruitment is excited to be recruiting for a Financial Controller with a leading property firm, supporting its premium and luxury development pipeline.

This is an opportunity for a technically rigorous and commercially minded financial leader to manage the financial wellbeing of the group and its related entities. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll lead the day-to-day finance function in a fast-moving, founder-led environment.

What you’ll do:

- Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts and consolidated financial statements.
- Lead month-end close, account reconciliations, accrual journals and supporting documentation.
- Maintain robust internal controls across balance sheet accounts, intercompany, accounts payable and funding.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, financial risk and financial models.
- Oversee project accounting, feasibilities, projected profits and Actual v Budget analysis.
- Manage project reporting, bank drawdowns, JV drawdowns and development settlements.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts and rolling projections at group and project level.
- Provide variance analysis and commercial insight to support decision-making.
- Support scenario modelling for land acquisitions, JV proposals and investment decisions.
- Ensure compliance with bank covenants, funding obligations and statutory requirements.
- Support funding, drawdown and refinancing processes, as required.
- Oversee statutory reporting, audit, FBT, income tax compliance and payroll controls.




- Liaise with the ATO and external accountants regarding tax lodgements.
- Drive the finance team’s use of Xero and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Lead, mentor and develop the Senior Project Accountant, Project Accountant and Accounts Payable functions.

What we’re looking for:

- Demonstrated experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role, preferably within property development, construction or a project-based environment.
- Strong experience delivering group consolidated and project-level reporting, month-end close, budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience with project feasibilities, JV reporting and development drawdowns is highly regarded.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain financial controls and governance frameworks.
- Experience in a high-growth, founder-led or entrepreneurial organisation is preferred.
- Experience managing and developing a finance team.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Robust working knowledge of Australian accounting, tax and statutory requirements.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insight.
- High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to controls and reporting.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
- Strong leadership, people management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Xero or similar accounting software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
