LÓasis Cafe And Restaurant is seeking an experienced Chef/Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. This is a full-time position based in Calamvale, Queensland. As a Chef/Cook, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation and safety. Your expertise and passion for cooking will be central to upholding our restaurant's reputation for excellence and ensuring every dish that leaves our kitchen meets our rigorous standards.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen station, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service during service periods
- Monitor food quality and taste, making adjustments as necessary to maintain consistency
- Manage inventory of ingredients and communicate stock requirements to management
- Follow food safety and hygiene protocols, including proper food storage and handling procedures
- Contribute to menu development and suggest new dishes or improvements to existing offerings
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff when required
- Respond promptly to customer feedback and work with management to resolve any concerns
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a skilled restaurant or hospitality setting
- Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and culinary best practices
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including food handling and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks during busy service periods
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to consistent food quality and presentation
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Physical fitness and stamina to stand for extended periods and perform demanding kitchen tasks
- Flexibility with scheduling to accommodate various shift times, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications (preferred)
- Experience with diverse cuisines or menu styles (preferred)
