The Position

St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital is seeking an accomplished clinical leader to become its next Director of Clinical Services. This is a senior executive appointment with genuine breadth: responsibility for protected, high-quality care today, and a clear hand in shaping how clinical services grow and evolve across the next strategic planning cycle.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director provides strategic and operational leadership across nursing, allied health and clinical support services. The portfolio includes clinical governance, quality and safety, accreditation, workforce capability, risk, service development and operational performance. Direct reports span the Assistant Director of Clinical Services, Quality, Perioperative Services, Nurse Unit Managers, Outpatients and Patient Flow.

The immediate agenda is both practical and forward looking. The Director will help shape the 2028-2031 strategic plan, maintain a sharp focus through the next accreditation cycle, support the EPAS upgrade and new HR and payroll system, and strengthen the capability of a motivated, emerging clinical leadership group. Success will depend on visible leadership and durable relationships with Visiting Medical Officers, doctors, nurses,



executive colleagues and the Board.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration, a relevant postgraduate qualification and significant senior clinical leadership experience in an acute healthcare setting. They will bring strong clinical governance, quality, safety and accreditation capability, together with the ability to lead change, manage operational and financial performance, and coach and empower leaders to build capability and autonomy across the team. This is a role for a proactive, credible and collaborative leader who can combine sound judgement with a willingness to try better ways of working.
