RSPCA Queensland

Brisbane

For more than 140 years, RSPCA Queensland has been a leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to improving the lives of animals - whether domestic, farmed, or native. We care for over 42,000 animals annually, relying on the generosity of animal lovers like you to fund 91% of our life-changing services.

Our Purpose:

We exist for animals to live better lives.

About the Role

Help create positive outcomes for animals and the people who care for them.

As our Community Program Officer, you'll play a vital role in delivering programs that support vulnerable pet owners and improve animal welfare outcomes across Queensland. Through education, practical support, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, you'll help ensure pets can remain healthy, safe, and with the families who love them.

Working within our Community and Prevention team, you'll lead the delivery of RSPCA Queensland's desexing programs while supporting a range of outreach and welfare initiatives. You'll work closely with veterinary teams, inspectors, foster care teams, animal care staff, community organisations, and service providers to connect people with the support they need and contribute to the success of programs that prevent animal neglect, surrender, and cruelty.

This is a full-time opportunity based at our Wacol Animal Care Campus.

If you're passionate about both human and animal welfare and enjoy building connections, coordinating programs, and making a genuine difference in your community, this could be the perfect role for you.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a compassionate and organised professional who enjoys helping people, solving problems, and creating positive outcomes. You may come from a human services, animal welfare, community services, or administrative background, but above all you'll be motivated by meaningful work that supports both animals and their owners.

You’ll be a strong communicator who can confidently engage with a diverse range of people, build productive working relationships,

and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You take a proactive approach to your work, demonstrate sound judgement, and are comfortable working independently while contributing positively to a cooperative team culture.

Above all, you’ll have a genuine passion for the welfare of animals and people, and a commitment to delivering programs that create lasting community impact.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

- Lead the delivery of RSPCA Queensland's desexing programs, including Desex My Pet and Low-Cost High-Volume Desexing initiatives.
- Coordinate referrals and support clients accessing Community and Prevention programs.
- Provide administrative and operational support across Community and Prevention programs.
- Support the intake and return processes for Pets in Crisis animals.
- Work closely with veterinary, foster care, animal care, and inspectorate teams to deliver positive outcomes for clients and their pets.
- Liaise with external organisations and service providers to connect clients with appropriate support services.
- Assist in the delivery of community education and outreach initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records, case notes, reports, and program data.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate support services for clients as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, service delivery, and program efficiency.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and values-driven team environment.

What You'll Bring to the Role

- Experience in animal welfare, human services, community services, or a related field highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and workloads.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and confidence learning new systems.
- Experience with administration, client services, program delivery, or case management processes will be highly regarded.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- A genuine commitment to animal welfare and alignment with RSPCA Queensland's purpose and values.
