About the role
We are seeking an experienced Train Driver Trainer / Assessor or Driver Mentor to join a project team supporting a significant rail systems initiative. This role would ideally suit someone who has previously worked as a Train Driver and Trainer / Assessor within BHP WAIO, Rio Tinto or an equivalent Pilbara heavy-haul rail operation and has strong operational knowledge of heavy-haul train operations, rail safeworking and associated rail operating systems. You will work closely with the project team, providing operational subject matter expertise and supporting the development, testing, validation and implementation of project activities. A key focus of the role will be ensuring operational requirements are accurately reflected in training, assessment, procedures, and project outcomes, and that changes transition effectively to frontline operational teams. The role is expected to run for up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements.

Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing operational subject matter expertise from a Train Driver and Trainer / Assessor perspective.




- Supporting the development and delivery of training associated with Train Driver operations, systems and operational changes.
- Participating in project workshops, system testing, operational reviews and planning activities.
- Working collaboratively with project, training and operational stakeholders to support safe and effective implementation. About you To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- Significant experience as a heavy-haul Train Driver, preferably within BHP WAIO, Rio Tinto or other equivalent rail operation.
- Experience as a Driver Trainer & Assessor is preferred, with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- A sound understanding of rail safeworking, operating procedures and safety-critical rail environments with a particular focus on heavy-haul train operations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
- Strong safety focus and commitment to promoting secure work behaviours.
- Sound computer and written skills and the ability to review and contribute to procedures, training materials, assessment tools and project documentation. Other experience that would support the role:
- Experience with rail systems projects, testing, commissioning, operational readiness, or system implementation is highly regarded.




- Current Australian C-Class driver's licence
- Australian working rights
