Flow Mountain Bike

Newcastle

We ride bikes, tell stories and spend a fairly unreasonable amount of time thinking about both. Flow is an independent, family-owned off-road cycling media outlet. Since 2012, we’ve been helping riders work out where to ride, what to ride and what’s worth getting excited about. We love what we do, we’ve got big dreams, and we’re looking for someone with the energy, creativity and flair to help us keep growing. Our team produces news, reviews, destination features, videos and stories from across the riding world. Your job is to work out how we share all of that, give it the attention it deserves and keep people coming back for more. So, what’s the job? You’ll manage Flow’s content syndication and help shape our audience strategy, working closely with our editorial, video and partnerships team. Some days that means finding a great angle buried in a bike review. Others, it’s pulling together FlowMail, planning a destination campaign, chasing a missing image or giving an older story another run because it’s still bloody useful. You’ll need to know what’s coming, what we’ve already got and what our audience might enjoy next. What this role isn’t This isn’t a copy-paste-and-post job. Scheduling software can do the scheduling. We need someone who can decide what’s worth sharing, why anyone should care and how to make it interesting. It’s also not a full-time riding and bike-testing gig. Our editors and contributors do most of the original reporting, filming and reviewing. You’ll work with their material, create plenty from it and help them think about what we need next. And it’s not about chasing every trend or measuring success by social likes alone. Social, our website, YouTube and FlowMail all do different jobs. We need someone who understands that and can make them work well together. What you’ll be doing

- Planning and running our content distribution calendar with the team.
- Writing captions, choosing images and putting together posts, carousels, Stories and short video edits that feel like Flow.
- Building and sending our weekly FlowMail newsletter, looking after the precious database and finding ways to grow it.
- Coordinating content around launches, embargoes, reviews, destination projects, events and competitions.
- Giving our commercial partners’ projects thoughtful, ongoing support while keeping the overall content mix interesting for riders.
- Digging through the archive for good stories that deserve another outing.
- Helping present and publish content across our website and YouTube.
- Keeping up with comments, questions and conversations in our community.
- Looking at the numbers, working out what they tell us and trying things that could improve the results.
- Keeping tasks, assets and deadlines organised so everyone knows what’s happening. Who we’re looking for You get off-road cycling. The bikes, the places, the people, the occasional questionable fashion choice. You don’t have to know every suspension tune or World Cup result, but you should understand the riding community and be curious about it. You can write. You’ve got a good eye. You can spot an interesting detail and turn it into something people want to read, watch or share. You bring ideas, follow through and keep in touch. Working remotely suits you, and you’re comfortable asking questions, chasing what you need and making decisions.

You’re also interested in where digital media is going. Between changing algorithms, shifting audience habits and the impending AI apocalypse, there’s plenty to get your head around. We’d like someone who can think beyond this week’s posts and help keep Flow relevant, useful and exciting. Experience with social publishing, email newsletters, website content and basic design and video editing will help. We use Meta Business Suite, Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, YouTube Studio, GA4 and Asana. You don’t need to arrive knowing every button, but you should be comfortable learning. What’s in it for you? A small team that cares about its work, an established riding audience and plenty of scope to contribute your own ideas. You’ll get a proper look at how independent cycling media works, from the first story idea through to publishing, promotion and partnerships. We’re keen for the right person to take ownership of the role and help us improve it. Hours and pay Around 20 hours a week to start, with pay and hours depending on experience. The hours are flexible, though you’ll need to spread them across the week for publishing, FlowMail and keeping in touch with the team. This could work well alongside study, freelance work or another part time job. The role is remote. Let us know where you’re based, your availability and pay expectations. Sound like your thing? Send your CV, a short introduction and two or three relevant examples to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Tell us what you did, why you approached it that way and how it went. We’d also love to hear one thing you think Flow could do better. Please include your earliest start date. We’re reviewing applications as they arrive and aim to appoint by 11 November 2026, so get in touch soon.
