Job/Project Description tasks to be performed on a daily basis The ABAP Development Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of SAP ABAP and SAP HANA solutions within a complex enterprise environment. This role provides technical leadership, solution quality assurance, and collaboration with functional consultants, architects, and business stakeholders. The position ensures adherence to development standards, promotes best practices, and supports continuous improvement across SAP delivery streams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team of SAP ABAP developers to deliver high quality code and solutions across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and SAP HANA environments. Design, develop, test, and deploy ABAP and SAP HANA based enhancements, integrations, reports, workflows, and interfaces. Provide technical leadership across the full development lifecycle, including solution design reviews, code reviews, and optimisation. Collaborate closely with SAP functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical specifications. Ensure development aligns with enterprise architecture, SAP best practices, and security and performance standards. Support the delivery of complex SAP upgrades, migrations, and transformation initiatives. Troubleshoot and resolve critical SAP development issues, ensuring stability and continuity across environments. Mentor and support junior developers, promoting skills growth and consistent development practices. Contribute to continuous improvement, automation, and the adoption of modern SAP development tools and methodologies. Prepare and maintain technical documentation to support ongoing operations and audits. Required Skills And Experience Extensive hands on experience in SAP ABAP development,
including OO ABAP, enhancements, user exits, BAdIs, BAPIs, and ALE/IDoc. Strong experience with SAP HANA development, including CDS views, AMDP, performance optimisation, and SQLScript. Demonstrated ability to lead SAP development teams in large, complex environments. Experience with SAP Gateway, OData services, and integration with cloud or external systems. Knowledge of testing frameworks, DevOps practices, and modern SAP development toolsets such as ADT and CTS+. Strong understanding of SAP architecture and core modules such as FI, MM, SD, HR, or others relevant to the environment. Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels. Required Australian Citizenship and Mandatory AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance. NV1 Clearance is preferred. Desirable Skills Exposure to S/4HANA migration or greenfield implementations. Knowledge of SAP BTP, workflow management, and integration services.
