About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) to join our clinical team as a Pre-Admission Nurse. Opportunities are available on a Part-Time or Casual basis, offering flexibility to suit the successful candidate. This role is responsible for coordinating and conducting pre-admission assessments, ensuring patients are clinically prepared for surgery and receive comprehensive education and support prior to their procedure. Working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, patients and multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in ensuring protected, efficient and high-quality perioperative care.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct pre-admission assessments via telephone and electronic health records.
- Review medical histories, medications and pre-operative requirements.
- Identify and escalate clinical risks or concerns to the appropriate clinicians.
- Coordinate pre-operative investigations and documentation.
- Provide patients with procedural information and pre-operative instructions.
- Liaise with surgeons, anaesthetists, admission staff and external healthcare providers.
- Ensure compliance with NSQHS Standards and organisational policies.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records. About You To be successful in this role, you will possess:




- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN).
- A minimum of 2 years' post-registration clinical nursing experience.
- Previous experience in perioperative, surgical, admissions, pre-admission, day surgery, acute care, medical or surgical nursing.
- Excellent assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Essential Requirements
- Current AHPRA registration as an RN or EN.
- Minimum 2 years' clinical nursing experience.
- Demonstrated clinical assessment skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
- Working knowledge of pre-operative assessment and patient preparation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and escalate clinical risks appropriately. Desirable
- Experience in a Day Surgery or Perioperative setting.
- Knowledge of anaesthetic and surgical pre-assessment requirements.
- Understanding of NSQHS Standards and Accreditation requirements.
