Discipline Lead, Live Music Production & Academic Systems
Industri Education | Melbourne | 0.8 FTE, ongoing | $148,000 FTE + super (pro-rata)
Industri Education is a specialist live music higher education provider. We teach the craft of live music production the way the industry actually works, and we’re building something genuinely different in Australian tertiary music education. As we grow, we’re looking for a Discipline Lead to own the academic heart of what we do.
The role
This is a senior academic leadership role with real breadth. You’ll be the curriculum owner for the Live Music Production discipline, lead our learning systems and technical teaching setting, and carry a teaching load yourself.
It’s a role for someone who wants to build, not just maintain, and who’s as comfortable in a live room as in a curriculum document.
What you’ll do
- Own curriculum, course quality and continuous improvement across the Live Music Production discipline
- Lead and support teaching staff, including workload, appointments and development
- Keep curriculum anchored in current live production practice, translating real industry workflows, tools and standards into what students learn
- Teach into the discipline yourself, modelling strong pedagogy and bringing professional practice directly into the classroom and studio
- Mentor and develop teaching staff in their craft and their teaching, lifting the quality of delivery across the discipline
- Administer and lift the standard of our learning management system (Canvas) across the institution
- Own the technical teaching environment: studios, equipment and software
- Build and sustain industry and venue partnerships that feed real work-integrated learning
What you’ll bring
- Sustained success teaching in higher education, including responsibility for an accredited course
- Current, credible professional standing in live music production
- Academic leadership experience, including managing teaching staff
- Strong capability with learning management systems and the technical infrastructure of music teaching
- Working knowledge of the Higher Education Standards Framework and the AQF
Qualifications and requirements
Essential
- A postgraduate educational qualification at AQF Level 8 or higher
- Risk and governance qualifications or experience
Desirable:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
The details
- 0.8 FTE, ongoing, with the start date set to suit the right candidate (likely early 2027)
- Based in Melbourne CBD, with regular presence at partner venues
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
- Occasional work outside standard hours to support live production and events
If you want to shape how the next generation of live music professionals is trained, we’d love to hear from you. To apply, please send your resume and a short cover letter telling us why you’d be a great fit for the role to Jesse Hooper, Head of Education, at
[email protected]. There’s no need to address each selection criterion individually. Applications close Friday 27 November, but we encourage you to apply early, as we’ll be reviewing applications as they arrive and may fill the role before the closing date.
