About the role
We are a specialist ophthalmology medical practice seeking a part-time Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team in Wagga Wagga, NSW. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, playing a vital role in creating a welcoming and productive experience. This position is essential to the smooth operation of our practice, as you will manage patient interactions, administrative tasks, and support the clinical team to ensure high-quality patient care. What you'll be doing
- Greeting patients upon arrival and maintaining a warm, professional demeanour at all times
- Managing patient appointments, scheduling, and maintaining accurate records using practice management systems
- Processing patient registrations and updating patient information as required
- Handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls, directing enquiries appropriately and taking messages
- Processing payments and managing billing enquiries in accordance with practice procedures
- Preparing patient files and medical records for appointments
- Coordinating with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the practice
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy legislation and practice policies
- Assisting with general administrative duties including filing, data entry, and correspondence
- Supporting the practice team with ad-hoc duties as required What we're looking for




- Previous experience working as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administration role (preferrable but not essential)
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with computer systems
- A professional, courteous manner with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
- A genuine commitment to providing excellent patient service
