In this position, you will support applications that enable energy market operator functions, working within established enterprise architecture, security, and IT strategy requirements. About The Role The Senior Developer leads activities across requirements analysis, solution design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of business-critical applications. You will work closely with business users, technical teams, project stakeholders, and, where applicable, third-party staff to deliver reliable solutions for major projects and scheduled releases.

This role requires sound judgement in translating business logic and user needs into practical technical specifications. You will contribute to design discussions and peer reviews, help manage expectations, and support delivery through estimation, planning, testing, release coordination, and ongoing application support. Your work will help ensure that systems operate in line with agreed service and security levels while following relevant development standards and enterprise architecture principles.

Qualifications

Applicants should have demonstrated experience developing software for mission-critical IT projects, particularly high-availability systems. Strong hands-on capability with Microsoft technologies, including C#, .NET, and ASP.NET, is required. Experience with web technologies such as SOAP and RESTful web services, Windows Services, JavaScript, XML, XSD,



XSL, HTML5, CSS, Ajax, jQuery, AngularJS, or Bootstrap will be valuable.

You should bring practical experience with test tools such as SOAP UI, JIRA, or Selenium, as well as build and source control tools, automated continuous build and deployment, unit test automation, and test harnesses. A sound understanding of software logic, user interfaces, data modelling, workflows, and common code libraries is important.

Successful candidates will be able to turn business and technical requirements into clear, concise specifications and designs. Strong organisation, coordination, communication, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential. You should work effectively with colleagues, share knowledge proactively, and contribute constructively to team-oriented problem-solving.

Responsibilities

Lead requirements analysis and contribute to the design, development, maintenance, and improvement of applications. Engage with business users to understand requirements, explain technical considerations, and support well-informed design decisions. Organise and participate in requirements and design meetings, peer reviews, and team discussions.

Promote reliable and supportable practices across software operation, service delivery, system design, development, defect management, testing, and release management.



Identify opportunities to improve development methods, tools, processes, and software quality, maintaining appropriate documentation and audit trails.

Ensure applications and delivery processes meet agreed service and security expectations through sound design and implementation. Follow applicable security policies, enterprise architecture principles, and development standards. Coordinate and direct internal or third-party contributors as needed, supporting delivery to agreed timelines and budgets through estimation and progress tracking.

Maintain relevant business knowledge to support application development and operations. Provide clear, timely reporting to leadership on delivery progress, key issues, risks, and considerations that may affect service, performance, or reputation. Participate in identifying, assessing, reporting, and managing risks.
