Procurement Category Manager – IT | Contract | $1,000 to $1,200 daily (inc super) Melbourne/hybrid 6 months to permanent
- Start within 2 weeks I’m looking for a genuine IT category specialist to take the lead on roughly $75m of technology spend for a listed FMCG business operating across Australia and New Zealand. You’ll report to the Head of Procurement. The brief is to centralise commercial leverage and visibility, without owning day-to-day IT operations. What you’ll do
- Build and own the IT category strategy across software, cloud, hardware, telco and managed services
- Lead sourcing and negotiations with suppliers over $250k
- Drive licence optimisation, supplier consolidation and rate harmonisation
- Set up invoice assurance and leakage controls
- Build business cases and a single benefits register with Finance What you’ll need
- Hands-on IT procurement or category management experience
- A track record negotiating software, SaaS, cloud and managed services agreements
- Strong financial skills, including perks baselining and realisation
- The ability to turn messy ERP and invoice data into commercial insight
- Comfort influencing in a multi-entity business where you don’t control every lever To be upfront, this one needs real technology procurement depth. If IT is a small part of your background, it won’t be the right fit. You’ll need to be available to start within two weeks.
