With its project workload continuing to grow, our client, Affordable Balustrades Pty Ltd in Malaga, WA, is looking for an experienced Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join the team.

The role will suit a practical drafter who enjoys seeing their drawings turn into finished work on site.

Civil Engineering Draftsperson | Affordable Balustrades - Malaga, WAKey Responsibilities•Review architectural and engineering drawings from clients, builders and designers, work out the balustrade, handrail, gate, screen and fencing scope, and raise any clashes or missing information before the job is priced.•Visit homes, apartment buildings and commercial sites to take measurements and check floor levels, slab edges, stair pitches and fixing surfaces,



then turn those site notes into clear sketches the team can quote and plan from.•Prepare detailed plans and designs in AutoCAD for glass, stainless steel and aluminium balustrades, pool fences, stair rails, gates, privacy screens and other custom structures, showing set-out, heights, post and panel spacing and fixing points.•Detail how each structure fixes to the building or ground, including base plates, core-drilled spigots in concrete, side and top fixings and base channels, and show how water will drain from balconies and channels without damaging the waterproofing.•Produce workshop drawings for the fabrication team with cut lengths, weld and bend details, glass panel sizes, hardware and powder-coat colours, so each job can be made right the first time.•Put together the tabulations and charts each project needs, such as material take-offs, cutting lists, glass and hardware schedules and panel layout charts, and keep them up to date as designs change.•Check designs against the National Construction Code, the Australian Standards for balustrades, handrails and pool safety barriers, and local council requirements,



and prepare the drawings and details a structural engineer needs where a design has to be certified.•Work closely with the production manager, fabricators and installers, answer drawing questions during manufacture and installation, and update drawings when site conditions or client requests change.•Keep an organised register of drawings, revisions and as-built records for every job, and support quoting and scheduling with accurate quantities and realistic drawing timeframes.

Qualifications and Experience•At least 1 year of relevant drafting experience in civil, structural or building work.

Experience with balustrades, stairs, fencing or metal fabrication will be well regarded.•An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in civil engineering drafting, civil construction design or a related field.•Valuable working knowledge of AutoCAD and confidence reading architectural and engineering drawings.

Hours: 38 hours per week - Full-time

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum
