QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW, NT, SA, TAS 12 months contract with 1 extension Australian citizenship mandatory Senior Drupal Developer A major Federal Government agency is undertaking significant digital transformation programs to deliver innovative, fit-for-purpose digital solutions that improve services for Australians. The agency is seeking an experienced Drupal Developer to join its Digital team. The role will focus on developing and supporting modern, accessible and secure web applications, working closely with UX specialists, product teams, project leads and external delivery partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for scoping technical requirements, coding, testing and deploying solutions across Drupal-based websites. The role will also involve the use of AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate implementation, testing, documentation and troubleshooting. Candidates will still be expected to maintain accountability for the quality, security, accessibility and maintainability of all solutions delivered.

Key responsibilities

- Develop, test and maintain modern web applications using Drupal and contemporary CMS practices.
- Work across both frontend and backend Drupal development.
- Collaborate with business analysts, designers, architects and backend development teams.
- Deliver accessible, secure and maintainable digital solutions.




- Develop and enhance reusable components, design systems and shared frontend capabilities.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Support testing, deployment and ongoing application improvements.
- Work effectively with both business and technology stakeholders.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery efficiency and developer productivity. Must Have
- Minimum 3 years' hands-on Drupal website development experience.
- Strong experience across both backend and frontend Drupal development.
- Experience with Drupal configuration, themes, Views, content types, search configuration and taxonomy.
- Robust skills in HTML, PHP, MySQL, Linux and NGINX.
- Knowledge of Digital Service Standards and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility requirements.
- Strong CSS skills, including Sass or LESS.
- Advanced JavaScript experience, including frameworks such as jQuery.
- Experience developing and supporting Drupal applications hosted in AWS. Nice to have
- Modern frontend development ecosystems and tooling.
- API-driven architectures and component libraries.
- Cloud-native platforms.
- Specification-driven or AI-augmented software development.
- AI-assisted and agentic development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code or similar.
- Government, regulated or highly governed delivery environments.
