About Us

An established international financial institution is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its Sydney CBD team.

This is a hands-on accounting position covering financial and management reporting, taxation, budgeting, regulatory reporting and day-to-day accounting activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and the organisation's overseas head office. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement and is ideal for an accountant looking to develop broader experience within the banking and financial services sector.

Responsibilities

- Manage daily accounting activities, primarily relating to expenses and loans, using Xero
- Review and maintain loan data using Excel
- Support cash flow management and gather information from internal departments
- Prepare statutory and regulatory reports, including APRA reporting
- Prepare tax reporting including PAYG, BAS and FBT
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual accounting processes
- Prepare regular financial reports for the overseas head office




- Assist with expense budgeting and variance analysis
- Support external audits and preparation of financial statements
- Assist with ad hoc accounting and finance-related projects

Your Profile

- 3+ years' experience in a similar accounting role
- Big 4 accounting firm experience will be highly regarded
- Experience within banking or financial services would also be highly regarded
- A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience using Xero
- Positive analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and sound judgement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Japanese language skills would be advantageous, but are not essential
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
