ATC Work Smart in partnership with host employers across all industries and disciplines engage, inspire and develop the next generation of skilled tradespeople. We have been supporting trainees and apprentices for over 35 years and understand how to help you achieve success.
Why an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship opens the door for you to become a tradesperson. “Tradies” get the best of both worlds learning the theory behind their trade while spending most of their time gaining hands-on experience in the field, rather than sitting in a classroom. Tradies are considered to be professionals with a high level of both practical and theoretical knowledge of their trade.
During your apprenticeship you will:
- Earn a wage while you train
- Learn on the job skills combined with off the job training
- Receive a nationally recognised qualification on successful completion
- Start a valuable step towards a rewarding career path
- Develop in-demand skills that can lead to strong career opportunities
The role:
You’ll work with an Albany based cabinet-making business, supporting qualified tradespeople and gaining hands-on experience in the manufacture and assembly of cabinet-making products. As your skills develop, you’ll take on a broader range of tasks while working towards your Certificate III in Cabinet Making & Timber Technology.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist qualified cabinet makers with the manufacture and assembly of cabinetry and timber products.
- Learn to safely use hand and power tools, machinery and equipment.
- Assist with measuring, cutting, preparing and assembling materials to job requirements.
- Maintain a secure,
clean and organised work area while following workplace safety and quality requirement
What we're looking for:
You don’t need previous experience to start your apprenticeship. We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in cabinet making, a willingness to learn and a practical, hands-on approach.
- Enjoys working with their hands and has a good eye for detail
- Motivated, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
- An interest in woodwork and learning to use hand and power tools; previous experience is desirable but not essential
- Holds a White Card and is willing to obtain a manual driver’s licence

- Comprehensive work and learning experiences on and off site
- Specialised on-going mentoring from industry trained professionals
- Employee benefit program
