Dejaxo – Pastry Cook

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pastry Cook to join our bakery team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, baking and decorating a variety of cakes, pastries, desserts and other baked products while maintaining high standards of quality, freshness and presentation.

This role is suited to an experienced individual with a passion for pastry-making, strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a busy bakery environment.

Tasks & Responsibilities

- Prepare and bake a variety of cakes, pastries, biscuits, buns and other baked products in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.

- Check the quality and freshness of raw materials and accurately measure and weigh ingredients before production.

- Prepare, mix, knead, roll and shape dough and pastry mixtures using appropriate baking techniques.

- Prepare pastry fillings, creams, icings and other ingredients required for daily production.

- Monitor oven temperatures, baking times and product appearance to ensure consistent baking results.

- Glaze and decorate cakes, pastries and other baked products using creams, icings and decorative finishes.

- Operate baking equipment and machinery, including mixers, ovens, dough rollers and other pastry-making tools.





- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet established standards for quality, freshness, texture and presentation.

- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of baking equipment, utensils, trays and work areas.

- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.

- Assist in planning daily pastry production to ensure products are prepared efficiently and orders are completed on time.

- Monitor ingredient stock levels, ensure proper storage and minimise food wastage.

- Work collaboratively with other bakery staff to support efficient daily operations.

Qualifications & Experience

- AQF Certificate III or IV in Patisserie, Baking or a relevant field.

- Minimum one year of relevant experience.

- Sound knowledge of pastry preparation, baking techniques, cake decoration and ingredient handling.

- Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistent product quality.

- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality presentation.

- Good organisational and time-management skills with the ability to meet production deadlines.

- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

- Demonstrated reliability, a strong work ethic and a commitment to producing high-quality pastry products.
