PeopleWise Consulting is partnering with a highly regarded, privately owned South Australian building company to recruit an experienced Senior Estimator.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a successful commercial building company delivering projects valued between $5 million and $15 million.
Working within an established team of four to five professionals, you'll be involved in a diverse pipeline of commercial construction projects, with the business typically managing eight to twelve projects at various stages.
You'll enjoy the support of an experienced management team, approachable Directors and a collaborative working environment where your knowledge and contribution are genuinely valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial building projects valued between $5M and $15M
- Review architectural drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Prepare detailed cost plans, bills of quantities and tender submissions
- Source, assess and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identify commercial risks, cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Site Managers and Directors
- Manage tender deadlines while maintaining accuracy and commercial competitiveness
- Contribute to successful project handovers and ongoing project delivery
About You
We're looking for an experienced Estimator who understands commercial construction and enjoys being part of a collaborative, professional team.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Minimum five years' experience in estimating within the building and construction industry
- Previous experience working directly for a commercial building company or head contractor, rather than solely within a subcontracting business
- Demonstrated experience estimating commercial construction projects, ideally in the $5M–$15M range
- Strong understanding of commercial building methodologies, construction costs and tendering processes
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Excellent commercial judgement, negotiation and analytical skills
- Strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- A proactive, organised and detail-focused approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
