Casual IT Support Technician

South Morang | Fridays, 9:00 am–12:00 pm | Onsite

Proposed pay: $45–$50 per hour, including casual loading, plus superannuation, depending on experience.

We are seeking a reliable, practical IT Support Technician to provide onsite support at a secondary school in South Morang for three hours each Friday.

This role suits someone who enjoys solving everyday technical problems, communicating clearly with staff and supporting technology in a school environment.

About the role

You will help keep classroom and staff technology running smoothly, resolve routine issues and assist with basic website maintenance. Tasks will be prioritised within the weekly three-hour visit, with larger projects and complex issues referred to the IT lead.

Key responsibilities

- Troubleshoot Windows laptops and desktops, including startup, login, software and peripheral issues.

- Support Google Chromebooks, including sign-in, Wi-Fi connectivity, browser, printing and everyday device issues.

- Assist staff with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams and account-access issues, following approved procedures.

- Troubleshoot projectors, classroom displays, audio equipment and connection problems.

- Resolve routine printer, scanner and network-connectivity issues.

- Set up devices, install approved software and carry out routine updates and checks.

- Perform basic website maintenance, including updating content, uploading documents, checking links and addressing minor issues.

- Keep clear records of work completed, outstanding issues and equipment requiring attention.

- Handle school information carefully and follow privacy, cybersecurity and child-safety procedures.

What we’re looking for





- Practical experience in IT support or a similar hands-on role.

- Confidence supporting Windows computers, Google Chromebooks and Microsoft 365.

- Basic knowledge of Wi-Fi, networking, printers and classroom audiovisual equipment.

- Ability to make routine updates using a website content management system.

- Positive troubleshooting skills and the ability to explain solutions in plain language.

- A patient, approachable manner when assisting people with different levels of technical confidence.

- Reliability and availability to attend onsite every Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

- A current Working with Children Check is essential.

Desirable experience

- Previous experience working in a school or education setting.

- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID or device-management tools.

- Experience with school systems such as SIMON or Encapture.

- WordPress experience and basic website troubleshooting.

School experience is a bonus, but applicants with relevant technical skills from other settings are welcome.

Casual position: three hours each Friday, 9:00 am–12:00 pm. This is an onsite role.

Child safety

The successful applicant must hold a current Working with Children Check, complete the required school induction and follow the school’s child-safety policies and code of conduct. Appointment will be subject to satisfactory reference and suitability checks.
