About the Opportunity

An established and growing café in the heart of Kyneton is seeking an experienced, motivated Chef to join its team.

With a busy breakfast and lunch trade, we're looking for someone who takes pride in producing quality food and maintaining a well-organised, efficient kitchen.

This is an opportunity for an experienced chef who enjoys daytime café service and is ready to take responsibility for the daily operation of a small commercial kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality breakfast and lunch dishes.
- Managing multiple orders efficiently and coordinating meals for timely service.
- Planning and completing daily food preparation.
- Managing stock levels, ordering, storage and stock rotation.
- Ensuring safe food handling, preparation, storage and temperature control.
- Maintaining accurate food labelling, date checks and food safety records.
- Maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and workplace safety.
- Monitoring food quality, portion control and minimising wastage.
- Contributing to menu planning, development and new dishes.
- Working collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
- Taking responsibility for kitchen organisation and daily operational standards.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines solid cooking skills with a proactive, organised and professional approach.

To be successful, you'll have:





- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications and/or demonstrated professional chef experience.
- At least one years' relevant experience in a commercial kitchen.
- Experience in a busy café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Sound knowledge of food safety regulations, safe food handling and stock management.
- The ability to work independently and coordinate kitchen service.
- A positive attitude, reliability and pride in your work.
- Availability to work across weekdays and weekends.
