Experience Guide Supervisor | Kangaroo Island, SA

About the Role

Southern Ocean Lodge is seeking an Experience Guide Supervisor to lead our guiding team and share the wild beauty of Kangaroo Island with our guests, from the dramatic coastline to the wildlife and landscapes of Flinders Chase National Park.

This is a hands-on leadership role, split evenly between guiding and leading the team. Reporting to the Experiences Manager, you will deliver insightful, interpretive experiences while training and developing our Experience Guides to the highest standard, ensuring every guest enjoys a seamless and personalised journey.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading, training and certifying the Experience Guide team, including on activity locations, flora, fauna and local history
- Delivering engaging guided interpretive experiences and guest transfers
- Running daily team briefings and pre-tour safety briefings
- Coordinating the daily activity schedule and personalised guest itineraries
- Liaising with National Parks, external operators and other lodge departments
- Ensuring vehicles and equipment are checked, cleaned and maintained to standard
- Upholding safety and risk management for guests and guides at all times
- Resolving guest feedback and identifying ways to elevate the guest experience

About You





You are a passionate naturalist guide and natural leader who loves sharing the stories of the land with others and bringing out the best in your team.

You will ideally have:

- Proven experience as a naturalist guide, with supervisory or team leadership experience
- Detailed knowledge of Australian native flora, fauna and history, and a keen interest in continued learning
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with a warm, polished guest manner
- Current First Aid certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate
- Full, unblemished driver’s licence and a safe driving record, with commercial passenger vehicle accreditation (or willingness to obtain). A Light Rigid licence is highly regarded
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends
- Current Australian working rights

The salary range for this role is between $70,000 – $80,000 per annum.
